Description

91 Point WS/#1 Israeli Wine

The top wine from Israel according to Wine Spectator’s 2019, Malkiya is Tabor Winery’s flagship wine. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a most unique location. Hand-picked, fermented and malolactic fermentation in oak. Aged 24 months in new french oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine was aged for an additional year in the winery cellars, adding further depth and complexity.  This well-balanced full-bodied wine is a deep dark ruby red, with cherry hues. It exhibits aromas and flavors of black forest fruits and cassis along with hints of caramel, clove and Mediterranean herbs.  Robust and velvety tannins contribute to the structure and lead to a juicy enduring finish. Kosher, Kosher for Passover.

More about the vineyard: Made exclusively from a single vineyard grown at an altitude of 726 meters on Mount Malkiya in the Upper Galilee.  The Cabernet Sauvignon plots sits right by the border of Israel and Lebanon and was carefully chosen amongst the winery’s vineyards.  The unique Bar Kochva soil structure keep the vines under an ideal level of stress causing the roots to search deep for water and results in 14m deep vines, and very concentrated berries.
