New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc? Check. Award-Winning Producer? Check. 20% Less Calories? OMG, Check! Founded in 1973, the winery’s first ever Sauvignon Blanc was released in 1979, and by the end of the 1980’s their SB was selected (from more than 1,100 competitors) to win the prestigious Marquis de Goulaine trophy at the 21st Int’l Wine & Spirit Competition. In 1996 winemaker Andy Frost was named Winemaker of the Year in London, and only good things were to follow. Now to saving calories: grapes are harvested earlier than usual to craft full-flavored wines that are naturally 20% lighter in calories (less alcohol, too!) On the nose you’ll get fragrant lemon, grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas; on the palate a sweet pungency, ripe lemon sherbet flavor and a hint of mango. The wine is well-balanced, refreshing, crisp and lively. Enjoy on its own, or with a variety of foods, from delicate to spicy, grilled or barbecued seafood, to green salad and Mediterranean dishes.
