Bordeaux-style blend from the Judean Hills

Ella Valley is located only a short drive between Jerusalem & Tel-Aviv. The valley lies about 330 meters above sea level, enveloped by hills. The soil here is mostly shallow and stony brown rendzina (fertile lime-rich soil), with varying amounts of clay and chalk. Moisture is preserved well into the spring and the beginning of summer. Annual precipitation is about 16.5”, none of it throughout the summer months, so vineyards are irrigated via drip-irrigation (an Israeli innovation.)

Ella produces roughly 300,000 bottles a year and has 6 different series. This wine is from their “Ella Series” which blends together purchased grapes and estate grapes, all from the Judean Hills. This wine is a Bordeaux style blend: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot.

Color is between a medium and deep ruby. On the nose you’ll detect plum, blackberry, red raspberry and wild flowers. There is also a bit of dustiness. The wine is exceptionally flavorful and quite well balanced. Tannins are well integrated. Additional black cherry on the palate. Enjoy now and over the next 2-3 years.

Kosher, Kosher for Passover, Mevushal.
