A terrific little bargain from Galicia, a go-to region for refreshing white wines. It’s a light and summery blend of Palomino Fino, Treixadura, Godello, Torrontés, Albariño and Loureira made by King Midas (aka Manuel Formigo)!

Jancis (Tamlyn Currin): Green guava nose. Etched and sharp on the palate, as if cut out of green glass. Bony, a little stony, lime and verbena. If you need a wine for ceviche, this has to be it.

The Wine Advocate: “The fresh and affordable white Formigo is a blend of different grapes from different vineyards. He uses all the Palomino grapes here (about 10% of the total land under vine for the winery) that represent half of the volume of the wine, and the rest is Treixadura, Godello, Torrontes, Albariño and Loureira, which he tries to ferment separately. The soils are granite-based and quite degraded (sábrego); the wines fermented in stainless steel with neutral yeasts and were blended and bottled without any work of the lees. The nose is not very showy, with shy notes of white fruit and flowers that open up with some time in the glass. It’s fresh and with a serious, strict palate with the austerity of the granite. It’s very tasty, with an almost salty finish. It develops a leesy, faintly smoky note with time in the glass.” 90 points
