Vegan Yecla Red Blend

The Castaño family are the original pioneers of the DO Yecla (Spain). Starting in the 1950s, Ramón Cantaño Santa built the first modern winery in the region. Then, starting in the 1980s, the family began bottling wines under their name, continuing to innovate and improve the reputation of Monastrell from Yecla in domestic and export markets.

Solanera is a blend of old vine Monastrell (65%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), and Tintorera (15%), which is aged in oak for 10 months. Richly flavored with dark fruit and spices, Solanera captures the warmth and generosity of this rural part of Spain. 10 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.

Wine is dark with intense shiny red color. Aromas of ripe dark berries (blueberries and blackberries). On the palate, the wine’s fruit is reminiscent of plum jam along with a hint and elegant mineral touch. The oak notes are perfectly integrated with sweet tannins and a long finish.

This wine most recently scored a 93 Points (2016); the 2019 has yet to be scored. Vegan.
