S.C.V. Castelmaure is a cave cooperative founded in 1921. Today it consists of 65 members, 15 of which bring 85% of the production. The winery is located in the unofficial Corbières cru site of Durban (there are 11 unofficial Cru’s in Corbières). The Serre mountain in the south protects the little plateau of Castelmaure from the off-weather patterns of the Mediterranean Sea. Antoine Robert is the head winemaker & director of the cave. He is assisted in winemaking by Fabrice Santini.

All the grapes are harvested by hand. In the cellar, vats’ cleanliness, temperature control, and ultramodern pressing give the best expression of the terroir.

A pale pink color names this lively and refreshing vin-gris, with raspberry and cherry aromas with floral nuances. Medium-bodied with juicy acidity and lingering finish. Smooth, refreshing in an easy-drinking style.

Delicious as an aperitif, it is also great when paired with seafood, salads, Asian-Thai cuisine, grilled fish and tajines. The Washington Post said: “From early indications, 2020 was a very good year for French rosé. This fine example from Castelmaure zings with fresh acidity and bright fruit flavors, accented by a whiff of wild herbs. It’s a recent arrival to the market, so we should see increasing availability in coming weeks.”

80% Grenache/10% Carignan/10% Cinsault.
