Sustainable/Certified Biodynamic Argentinian Orange
Description
Sustainable/Certified Biodynamic Argentinian Orange
Chakana Winery is located 3,149 feet above sea level at the foothills of the Andes Mountains in Agrelo, Mendoza. It is one of the leading projects among the new generation of winemakers dedicated to the discovery and expression of the Andean diversity of climate and soils. Chakana, who is certified biodynamic, owns 193 hectares of vineyards, spread across sites in Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco.
Chakana is the name of the Southern Cross constellation. Its rotation in the sky throughout the year made it an effective agricultural calendar for the ancient Andean people.
This wine checks the hipster “natural wine”/biodynamic box, for sure. It boasts a deep, orange color, and is highly aromatic with white flowers, stone fruits and spice, with saline skin tannin tension and dry finish. Beautiful stuff! And do not be afraid of the deposit of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The wine benefits from this natural occurrence and is indeed necessary for the stability of the wine. This is an unfiltered, intentionally cloudy wine. Embrace it. You like hazy beer, right?
The 2019 vintage of this wine scored a 94 points; this wine is not yet rated.
