92 Points Wine Enthusiast!
Vinos de Arganza turns into a family business when it was bought by long-time wine industry professional, Víctor Robla and his wife Ángeles Varela, who can trace her own family’s wine-making history to this region over 500 years ago. With a long tradition of producing wine in Bierzo, it only made sense that their children transition into the family business. Today, Vinos de Arganza relies on their terroir, traditional know-how, combined with current technological advances to improve their winemaking process with a commitment to quality and value.
The wine is harvested manually. The grapes are fermented in temperature controlled stainless-steel tanks, followed by 12 months aging in French and American oak.
The wine is intense, dark-cherry color with spices and red-fruit aromas. Flavors of ripe blackberries and blueberries with a touch of oak. Good balance and backbone on the palate.
In scoring this wine a 92 Points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine said, “Fully ripe blackberry aromas suggest raisin and prune without seeming overly heavy. A lively palate is full but not jammy, while this Mencía from a stellar vintage tastes of blackberry, black plum and cassis. Dark-fruit flavors persist on a rich finish alongside notes of prune and chocolate. Drink through 2022.”
