2021 Nana Estate "Tethys" Mitzpe Ramon
Nana Estate Winery is a boutique winery located in Mitzpe Ramon, within Israel's Negev Desert. Situated at an elevation of 800 meters (2,624 feet) above sea level in the upper reaches of the Zin River, the vineyard benefits from mineral-rich loess soil and significant temperature variations between day and night.These conditions contribute to the unique desert character of Nana's wines.
Eran “Nana” Raz is a viticulturist, man of the desert, pioneer, and visionary. The name, Nana, stems from his childhood and has remained his nickname ever since.
From 1998-2002, Eran served as vineyard manager of an area of 600 dunams in the Jerusalem Hills and the Adulam region. In 2002, he began advising the Golan Heights Winery and other boutique wineries countrywide who consulted with him.
Tethys is an intense wine, with flavors and fragrances of ripe fruit; a full-bodied wine with a velvety texture. The wine ages for 16 months in French oak barrels, of which only half are new barrels. On the nose you’ll detect aromas of blackberries and pine, along with violet, green pepper and red cherry flavors. A full bodied wine with medium acidity. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon/6% Petit Verdot/4% Petit Sirah.
Pair with pizza, pasta, ratatouille and curried meats.
